Following on and on reflection of another busy and successful year for Banbridge CC and its members, the membership voted for a shortlist of nominations for the honour of 2024 Club-person of the Year at the recent October club meeting. It’s fantastic to see a number of new names on the shortlist, with all those named hugely deserving of their nomination for extraordinary efforts during the year. Congratulations to all the nominees.
Voting is now open to all Banbridge CC members (one vote per member), and will close at 18:00 on Sunday 27th October. The winner will be announced at the Club Awards Night and 80th Anniversary Celebration Dinner on Friday 8th November.

Ruth McKee has had a busy 2024 , taking the lead with the organisation and promotion of the MTB XC National Series race in Dunmore, the only MTB XC National Series event to be promoted in Ulster in 2024. Ruth was also one of the lead coaches and helpers at the Summer Cycling Skills Camp and is a regular volunteer at various club events.
James MacMahon in his role as club Treasurer has been instrumental bringing the club into a stable financial standing and introduced a number of pro-active initiatives and efficiencies to help deal with the increasing demand on the treasurer role and increased financial transactions. James is also a member of the Open Race Committee and is a regular volunteer for marshalling and driving duties for club events.
Richard McBride and Erwin McKee have become a recognised paring at Irish endurance events with regular participation in events such as the Mondello 24hr and Donegal Ultra 555. Their efforts have been rewarded with victories in both events in the two rider team category.
Paul Hannigan is a regular sight at all of Banbridge CC events and events across Ireland where Banbridge CC are participating to capture action and off the bike photographs. Paul’s photos help with social media and local press media publicity for the club.
Martin Duffy took upon the role of Event Director for the 2024 Thomas White Memorial Time Trial which also incorporated the Paracycling National Series. A time-trialling enthusiast, Martin also regularly authors and publishes the popular ‘Merchants of Speed’ race reports
